Allbirds: "The World's Most Comfortable Shoe"

Sneakers these days have become much more than running shoes. They show personal style with dozens of brands, styles, patterns for you to choose. There are some for everyday use, like Converse, there are easy slip on sneakers from Sketchers, there are even designer sneakers endorsed by celebrities so coveted that they get their own release date. There is no question that sneakers have evolved to a massive industry. So why would Tim Brown, founder of Allbirds want to enter into this highly competitive market?
Sheep's Wool
Tim Brown grew up in New Zealand where sheep out number people 6 to 1 so he was very well versed with merino wool. He could not believe that the sneaker industry had not tapped into this resource and he was thrilled to create a sustainable sneaker. Along side his partner Joey Zwillinger, an engineer and renewables expert, they created the merino wool fabric specifically engineered for Allbirds. But not only that, they have created a process to emit no carbon in the making of their sneaker and use only natural materials. Their Company mission is to be sustainable and leave the world better than they found it which is something society values very much.
New market
Not only because they are an eco-friendly sneaker company, but what makes Allbirds different from all other sneakers is that it has branded itself as the "the world's most comfortable shoe" and has created a whole new market in the sneaker industry that we didn't know we needed: "the comfortable sneaker". Who would have thought making a sneaker out of a lightweight-foam and wool would be the key to your feet's pleasure and yet here they are a billion dollar company. And people are LOVING this sneaker. Celebrities are endorsing them left and right and the word of mouth buzz is that your feet NEED a pair.
The Product
Allbird sneakers are made out of a proprietary low-density foam for a sole which gives the sneaker a very light weight. The sides of the sneaker are made out of merino wool which is so soft that you feel like you are wearing a slipper and together makes you feel like you are "walking on a cloud". They are moisture-wicking making them less prone to oder and you have the option to wear them without socks without getting blisters! Also they are easy to clean- you just throw in the washer. Lastly, the look of the sneakers are minimal with no logos seen. The designers of Allbirds really hit a homerun with this sneaker as the quality is outstanding.
Price
Sustainable, designed well, most comfortable shoe ever, sure sounds like the price of these shoes would be outrageous, but they go for $95 to $115. They are staying competitive with other brands like Nike and Reebok.
Conclusion
Founders of Allbirds in my opinion have really done a fantastic job at penetrating into an almost impossible market by giving us an incredible product for a reasonable price. Not only does the consumer feel good wearing Allbirds but they feel good about the whole purchase. They really have done a great job at creating a unique product. The value of these sneakers are out of this world and I am so happy to give my money to a Company that continues to make that world a better place.
